Disaster ResponseLutheran Church Charities, working through District President Dan Gilbert, is collecting money to help Pastor Mark Muenchow and Messiah Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City minister to the families in the community who have suffered loss. All donations for this disaster...dollar for dollar...will be directed to the most pressing needs as determined by Messiah Lutheran. Comfort Dogs and an LCC team will be traveling to Oklahoma to work with Messiah congregation in response efforts. Update Re. LCC Comfort DogsMOORE: The LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs have received an invitation from Pastor Mark Muenchow and Messiah Lutheran Church (LCMS), and are on standby to deploy to Oklahoma. They are waiting for word when it is safe to enter the area. Please keep all in your prayers. BOSTON: Comfort Dogs and staff were in Boston for a memorial service led by local LCMS pastor Rev. Ingo Dutzmann, at First Lutheran Church in Boston. The originally schedule service had been postponed due to city lockdown during the pursuit and capture of bombing suspects. TEXAS: An LCC team was deployed on April 21 that included Comfort Dog Samuel and Fire Dept. Chaplain Mark Hein (St. Paul, Lockport) together with Comfort Dog Barney and Rev. Tim Engel of Indiana, also a chaplain and trained for critical incident response. In total eight handlers and six comfort dogs visited West, via St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waco. |

Nominations ReleasedLCMS President, Vice-Presidents and Regional Board Members Nomimations have been released. The Synod presidential election will be conducted prior to the convention. Elections for all other officers of the Synod will be held during the convention. In addition, elections will be held to select members to serve on various boards and commissions of the Synod.
