Crosspoint Lutheran Church, a new start in Lakewood, Illinois, celebrated its first birthday on Mother's Day weekend. Here's a look at the first year:

Spring Pastoral Assignments

New church workrs assigned to our district from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, on May 1 included Pastor Candidate Jacob Dickerhoff as Associate, Christ the Rock, Rockford, to be Church Planter for Risen Savior Lutheran Mission in Byron. Vicars assigned were Andrew Bartholomew to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Elmhurst, and Joseph Llewellyn to Christ the Rock, Rockford. Vicars assigned to the NID on May 2 from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind., are David M. Buchs to St. John, Wheaton, and Jonathan V. Meyer to St. Paul's, Lockport. (There were no pastoral placements in the NID from the Fort Wayne seminary.)


Serve Social 2012

Golden Apple Winner

Jennifer Egen, an LCMS commissioned minister and second grade teacher at Rockford Lutheran Academy, was honored as a Golden Apple recipient on April 20 by Golden Apple of Rockford, Illinois. She was one of five Golden Apple winners in Rockford from more than 500 nominees. Evaluations, classroom observations and interviews are held to choose the winners. Jennifer has been teaching nine years, fulfilling a dream since childhood. She is married to Jon Egen, who is a math teacher at Rockford Lutheran High School. Winning teachers are inducted into the Golden Apple Teacher Academy to share in promoting excellence in education and mentoring of other teachers.
