Project Goal

To assist the elementary schools of the Northern Illinois District to improve and enhance their curriculum to insure the continued educational excellence of these schools as they meet the spiritual, educational, physical, emotional, and social needs of students in the 21^st century. This 5-year project was begun in 2003.

Objectives

Implement a District-wide curriculum development/review plan for all elementary schools.
Insure that all NID schools maintain standards of excellence as they pertain to curriculum in general, and local practice and needs specifically.
Develop a District-wide curriculum study plan and cycle.
Create District staff development programs. Many of these would focus specifically on the curricular area under study in a given year.
Develop District evaluation systems for curriculum and achievement.
Create a District plan for dissemination of ideas and materials.
Establish a part-time position for a District Curriculum Coordinator who would oversee the project, organize the implementation of the project objectives and serve as a consultant to NID elementary schools for curriculum.
Provide for continuous evaluation of the project as it proceeds.
Explore future funding for the continuation of the curriculum project in future years.

Year One (2003-2004)
